Title: TRU Dragonite giveaway!
Description: November 8th and 9th

dragonfly - October 16, 2008 01:16 AM (GMT)
on Saturday, November 8th and Sunday, November 9th, Toys R Us stores throughout the United States and Puerto Rico will be giving away a Dragonite between the hours of 12 noon and 4pm.

what's so special about a Dragonite, you ask? well, normally, Dragonair doesn't evolve into Dragonite until it reaches level 55. this Dragonite will be level 50. that means, it can be used in WiFi battles and tournaments that are limited to level 50 Pokémon. also, while the specifics haven't been announced yet, the Dragonite will apparently be equipped with moves that it wouldn't normally learn until after level 55.

that's all the info that has been announced, so far. keep an eye on the News section of pokemon.com for more details. :happyjoy:

What a useless promotion. Where's Celebi and Jirachi and Mew? We got Manaphy, Darkrai and Deoxys.

actually, Toys R Us has done a Mew giveaway within the past couple of years already, and Nintendo did a Celebi giveaway as part of Pokemon's 10th Anniversary celebration a couple of years ago.

and if you want a Jirachi, i can give you one. i've got the Pokemon Colosseum bonus disc, so it'd even be legit. :happyjoy:

Did Toys R Us also do a giveaway with a deoxys? I remember it was either deoxys or celebi.

If I remember correctly, GameStop did the Deoxys giveaway.

Anyway, as for the Dragonite, the only awesome factor about it is its unique level, and even then it'll render it basically useless outside of link battles, and potential bragging rights.

Right-o, good chap.

You forgot about that epic OT name. That's something else, owait, Bragging Rights. D:

I heard the dragonite has supoosedly something to do with Lance of the elite four but I dont know what that is yet...

Demonater - October 19, 2008 05:01 AM (GMT)
I wonder if its worth it...

The thing is, Mew and Celebi aren't given away that much. Deoxys, however, has been given away a bunch of times. They need to start giving each these legendaries away at the same frequency. I'm not waiting 5 or more years for then to give out another Celebi, while Deoxys and Manaphy get released a few more times before then.

Nah, you can keep Jirachi. I'm picky about a legendary's condition. I don't wan't legendaries that have been used (they can't be leveled at all, their current Exp. counter must be 0, no stat increasing vitamins can be used, no moves tutored to them, etc.). I collect them as trophies and never use them (unless people challenge me to a legendary team VS. legendary match).

Thanks for the offer though.

well, the Jirachis from the Colosseum bonus disc AREN'T used at all. the only reason they're at level 5 is because you get them through Ruby and Sapphire, and everything started at level 5 then (including freshly hatched pokémon). but whatever. if you change your mind, shoot me a PM! i've currently got 9 of them. they're all untouched, and i'm working on passing the Pokérus to all of them, for easier EV training. :happyjoy:

Fierce Deity - October 19, 2008 05:30 PM (GMT)
I don't remember a Darkrai but eh. I hate Deoxys, meh. The Dragonite probably has some good moves and some good stats. That's all I guess. Who knows, maybe it'll be Shiny. :dtu:

I'd be like, "LOLWTFHAXX!" And then scream, show off, and find that everyone's was shiny and feel like an idiot. XD

dragonfly - November 3, 2008 01:45 AM (GMT)
latest info on this, from pokemon.com:

the Dragonite will be in a Cherish Ball, and be holding a Yache Berry. it's moveset will consist of Dragon Dance (which it doesn't normally learn until level 53), Outrage (which it doesn't normally learn until level 64), Thunderbolt (TM only), and Draco Meteor (Move Tutor only).

i'll probably still get it, just for the sake of getting something from Nintendo, but it doesn't look all THAT great, IMHO. :/

KeybladeKid - November 3, 2008 01:56 AM (GMT)
wow now I just learned something sad.

we cant hold onto that more than two wondercards so I will have to delete one of my wondercards from darkrai or dexoys. I will probably due dexoys but it doesnt seem worth it XD

you can have three Wonder Cards at a time, not two. so you don't have to get rid of your Deoxys or Darkrai Wonder Cards if you don't want to.

KeybladeKid - November 3, 2008 11:24 AM (GMT)
OH okay good. I mean I wanted to transfer those ones over to platnium. Do you guys think Platnum will be able to hold more wonder cards?

not that i'm aware of. i'm pretty sure they stuck with the limit of three at a time. also, i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there are two types of Wonder Cards: the kind you can send to another person, and the kind you can't. sadly, the GameStop Deoxys and TRU Darkrai are both the kind you can't transfer.

Nekolo - November 3, 2008 02:25 PM (GMT)
sorry to sound like a newb but, what are wonder cards?

Demonater - November 3, 2008 10:41 PM (GMT)
I was wondering too.

okay. first, you have to unlock the Mystery Gift option. go to the third floor of the Jubilife TV station, and talk to a man and woman standing right next to each other (specifically, talk to the man). when prompted, first, respond with "Everyone Happy", then "WiFi Connection". once you finish that conversation, Mystery Gift will be unlocked. save your game.

now, when you start up the game, before you select your save file, you will see the Mystery Gift option in the menu. when you select it, you will see 2 options: "Receive Gift" and "Exit" (unless you have already received a gift, in which case the "Check Card" option will also be visible).

when you select "Receive Gift", you will see four options: "Get From A Friend", "Get Via Wireless", "Get Via Nintendo WFC", and "Cancel". for these Pokemon giveaways, you would select "Get Via Wireless", at which point, a Wonder Card would be delivered to your game card. once that happens, start up your game, and go to any Pokemart. you'll see a man in green standing by the counter. talk to him, and he will give you your Mystery Gift. for Pokemon giveaways, you will also need to have an empty slot in your team. once you get the gift, save your game.

you can have up to three Wonder Cards at any time. if you want to get more Mystery Gifts beyond that, you will have to delete a card.

a long, wordy explanation, i know, but i was hoping to answer as many other possible questions as i could...

Damn. This Weekend? Ugh. I hope someone can help me get one, since I don't have a ride to a nearby TRU. My mom's having a surgery to get a tumor out of her throat. (Thyroid Cancer or something.) I mean, that's important, but damn the timing.

Ouch. I hope your mother comes through alright.

Anyway, I just remembered the event as soon as my mom and dad left to get the car serviced. Meh, wasn't really looking forward to waiting in line at a Toys R' Us on a Saturday morning, anyway.

There will be no lines. It's like the Deoxys thing, if you went. It's like, Download Mystery Gift, and voila, there's your Dragonite.

Oh.

I was still reminiscent of my Mew event experience, back when 'Lucario and the Mystery of Mew' was released. God, that was horrible.

Holy Jesus, I was in a line for like, 2 hours.

EDIT + Off-Topic: My mom came through alright, Ikeh. She can talk and everything.
