Title: California Prop. 8

Ok, so I'm sure some of you have heard about the Passing of Prop. 8 in California.
For those who haven't, Prop. 8 is an amendment to the State Constitution which bans gay marriage. It was funded by many churches, most notably the Morman Church.
There are a couple of key issues being discussed. First: Is Prop. 8 Constitutional? Basically we're talking about the Constitutionality of Gay Marriage here.
Another one is this: Is it Constitutional for these Churches to fund such a Proposition? Churches are left alone by government (hell, they don't even pay taxes), so should they have the right to have a say in government?
And of course there's the obvious Morality standpoints.
I think there can be a rather developed and fufilling debate on this topic. I'll give my opinions on everything once we get going.

Well since I live in California, I've been hearing about that thing for days. Even my teacher started a discussion in class about it.
I for one say that gay marriage should be allowed. Personally, I believe prop 8 isn't constitutional because it is one of your rights. Freedom of expression and all that shizz, right?

Washington now allows physician assisted suicides, Massachusetts decriminalized small amounts of Marijuana, but Gay Marriage received the ban hammer in California? I'm sorry if I'm being a tad insensitive here, but that's bullshit. We've progressed this far within those former two issues, which technically speaking, should hold more controversial value than a seemingly trivial issue as same-sex marriage, but apparently, that notion's just as wrong as to why religion should be within politics. Oh, wait.
To incite uncalled for Government oppression in an effort to define marriage from a legal standpoint as a formal long-term union exclusively between a man, and a woman is far from constitutional.
It's baffling to witness the sheer amount of the opposition within in this petty issue. No one is affected whether homosexuals can marry, except for the untenable, and vicious views which continue to demand such unjust treatment for these people on the shallow basis of sexual orientation.

I have voted twice to ban gay marriage, the court has turned it over once, theyll do it again.

wow......people like you kill me. I think Prop. 8 is unconstitutional. Its takin rights away from gay people. Gay people should have just as much rights as anybody in America. Isn;t that whole point of America? to have freedom. and then Prob. 8 takes it away. i don't get it.

There's absolutely no case to be made in support of no legal recognition of same-sex marriage.
