Title: World War III
Description: Now or Never?
Over My Head - October 3, 2007 11:05 PM (GMT)
Considering the wars going on with Afganistan and Iraq do you think another World War will be sparked in our generation or the next couple of years?
Not only the wars but global warming plays a deep part. If the global warming issue continues to rise then countries will, would, or could fight for supplies to give the country what they need to survive. Millions will die because of war.
Nuclear Weapons will destroy us all. Thats all i have to say about that.
Unless we figure something out, what are the chances of another World War starting in the near future? What countries do you think will be involved in it?
Taken from dictionary.com
World War III
–a hypothetical world war of the future, often conceived as a nuclear war resulting in the total destruction of the human race.

I agree a World War III might come up soon, and like that dictionary.com qoute, It might be a nuclear war. I think the countries involved will be America, Iraq, and some others but the two I'm certain about are America and Iraq.

D: WWIII will suck but all we have to do is hurry up of iraq GWB is just screwing around there we could easly beat them and kick GWB outta office

world war 3 is inevitable, i think. whether it will happen in our generation or not remains to be seen.
nuclear war will indeed destroy most of humanity. even after the war is over, the effects of such a war would last for several more generations, killing even more people, if not all of them are already dead.
i think i heard that chinese-american relations have been getting worse and worse. if we got into a war with them, korea (south?) and iraq would definitely join in against us. then our allies (if we still have any) join with us. there's the basis for a third world war.

And you speak of it as if it won't affect you if it does. If it is a nuclear war, no one is safe. It won't be soldiers fighting on some distant shore, it will be super cruise missiles that can circle the entire earth in two hours homing in on a town 50 miles away and annihilating everything from them to you and everything in between. This is the reality of it, there is technology that can do such things, and I wouldn't be surprised if we are the #1 target to use it on.

The World War III theory has been around ever since the cold war, hypothesizing that the two greatest opposing world powers, the Soviet Union and the United States, would eventually declare war on each other. However, it never did happened. While both countries did get ready for the sudden call for ar from the other side, neither side declared it either, afraid of the possibility of engulfing the globe in nuclear warfare.
As of now, the chances of a World War III is giving every conspiracy preacher an orgasm. It has grown slimmer, yet more probable at the same time.
For one instance, opposing countries to the United States, such as North Korea, have gained access to Nuclear technologies. Waving it around and showing it off like a little boy and his newly found chest hair. This could make tensions between the two countries even more intense, with both sides having nuclear firearms.
I don't see how a World War will emerge out of the Bush Administration's screw up in the middle east. Whatever happens there stays there. Whatever fighting that is occurring in that part of the world, from my perspective, won't spread anywhere else.
Also, Global Warming will take a bit longer to have any real effect. Fossil Fuels will diminish much longer after the ozone layer disappears nearly completely. I'd give Global Warming about 30 years to create a real, full blown out effect through out the globe, where as Fossil Fuels will last at maybe 50+ years. So hopefully speaking, no fighting will occur, as by the time comes, a new energy source will hopefully be discovered and exploited to the public and environment's beneficial welfare. I'm pointing at Nuclear Fusion to be more specific.
No one can predict the future to a certain degree. Maybe the Bush Administration will screw up once more to increase the already high tensions between other countries, or it might be the fault of the newly elected President, in 2008, next year.

I wouldn't want to believe that another World War could be on the horizon. All wars do is cause loss of life and it's meaningless to be honest.

I bet it'll involve the U.S. invading Canada for oil and water (water IS the oil of the future). They're known for doing extremely idiotic things in the past(Iraq?).
If that was the case, I'd laugh, then cry, then refugee to some European country until the US is done after it got tired of all the other countries ganging up on it.

Ikarou is the only one here that knows what he is saying. Topia has few people that know anything about politics.

Like I say (or at least think) in almost every topic you post in. Contribute to the topic, don't criticize everyone else's contributions until you have.

Wouldn't go as far as saying Ikarou knows what is going on, and definitely not with the global warming bit.
World War III could very well be sparked by a screw up in the current iraq/terrorist hunt situation. The moment we set foot into saudi arabia with hostile intentions, that's the entire islamic world against us. That's holy land. Islam is the largest religion in the world, they are a force to be reckoned with.
But I don't believe we WILL do that, I'm just saying, if we do, that's very very bad news.

Don't worry, you call all just Hide behind me >:3--- wait...
I mean... It's possible to have another World War, but I doubt it's unavoidable, we just need to find a way.
Divette - April 4, 2008 02:42 AM (GMT)
If this war in Iraq doesn't stop soon, THAT will be WW3.
JeanLuigi - April 6, 2008 04:17 AM (GMT)
I'd say it's unlikely in the near future. Since the US has enough nuclear bombs annihilate nearly any country, few would start a major war against us. And... although this may seem strange to Americans... the US is peaceful, and we wouldn't have any reason to launch our arsenal.
On the other hand, in the later future (maybe a century or two from now), the global stage could change entirely, and power may fall into the hands of a less peaceful nation. In that case... WWIII would be inevitable.
