Title: The Internet is Dying?
Double Oh Seven - December 6, 2007 11:55 PM (GMT)
Well, not quite. I don't know about you guys, but around conventional forums such as most invisionfree sites, as well as many other types of forum software, activity is becoming, well, less. I think we can attribute any drop in activity to the popularity of Web 2.0 - social bookmarking websites like MySpace and Facebook and user video sites like YouTube have definitely taken users away from more conventional methods of keeping in touch over the internet.
What do you guys think? Do you feel as if that conventional forums are being replaced by the "big man", AKA do you feel that Web 2.0 sites such as Myspace and Youtube are taking over the internet?

there could just be more forums thus distributing the action more, like spreading out peas on your plate to make it look like you ate some

Google is taking over the internet.
Nothing else really stands a chance.

Gaia is a load of bull, no offense. I dare you to convince me otherwise, but trust me, that won't be happening anytime in the near future.
I don't really think so, because as for the overall internet usage, it has skyrocketed because of sites like MySpace and FaceBook. Quite a few people only use the internet for such means, as another opportunity to popularity with friends.
I honestly don't know many friends at school who go on forums and such, besides for a few, but I know a whole lot who have FaceBooks, and MySpace profiles, and so on. And those who do have, aren't the types, from my perspective, who'd be debating whether or not the Brawl will be the Wii's trump card.

Well said.
And 100,000 people a day? If that was "taking over internet" numbers, then I guess over 50,000 sites on the internet are taking over the internet completely right now.

well i'd be happy to debate if you want. and yes 100,00 which was yesterday. Today, right now, there is 93,340 Gaians Online. I can ealy say that i do have a Myspace but not a Fcebook. See even if people go on hte net its not really dying cause forsure everyperson goes online at least once a day. don't you think?? beside myspace isn't as fun as gaia. i barely go on my myspace cause there is nothing to do.

That's the main reason why I think it sucks. There is way too dense of a population on that site, it's crazy. No matter what, where, when, or how you post, it will only be drenched away by 15 other opinions in a mere minute - no, second. I don't know about you, but I really don't want to read a long ass thread consisting of 30 pages worth of one liner posts. The same applies for a majority of people, not only me.
The only motive driving people to post is the annoying as hell currency. This basically invites massive spam attacks and a countless amount of retarded posts, all for the sake for getting enough moneh to buy a shoe, or something. God be with the staff when moderating the forum.
Also, going back to the first point, this pretty much defeats the whole purpose of a forum. The only thing going for it is the whole concept of creating and dressing up an avatar with all sorts of crazy crap, which only attracts rabid anime fangirls for all I know. As well as the creepy ass pedophiles who stalk said rabid anime fangirls. If a normal adolescent guy is found on that site, he is either confused about his sexual orientation, or he's just so damn desperate for some head over the internetz.
I know I'm hell of a lot shallow in this post, but deal with my narrow views.

How is the internet dying if we have forums on the internet that tons of people go to?

What he's pointing at is the supposed decrease in forum activity due to the popularity of other sites like MySace, and FaceBook.

Then the title better be, "Is Google, MySpace, and Facebook taking over the Internet?"
And no, I'm proud to say that I'm one of the many active internet users at my school that DOES NOT have a MySpace or Facebook. :D
(I think I'm not the type to be debating about Brawl being Wii's trump either. :P It's fun to speculate the characters and stages, but that's about it for me and brawl. XD)
