Title: False promises

Alright, I am very upset right now. Does anyone have any parents that make false promises? I do, my mother told me that she was gonna let me have my choice of a ps3 or x box 360, naturally I would be very happy right?
Well I was looking forward to it, i was trolling around gamestop looking for games I'd want and what I'd like to pick and now she tells me that she wont get it for me..that hurts.
Now if it was a straight up no that'd be all fine and dandy but i hate being given false hope for something like that and having it being shattered to pieces.
Has anyone else had a parent or people that get your hopes up and then destroy it so suddenly? tell me your story and id love to hear how you handled it because right now im in a down in the dumps.

My dad is usually very true to his promises. It usually takes him a while, but he always follows through. xd
My mom, on the other hand, does make false promises. I barely get to see her, and when I go down to visit my grandparents, she always says she'll come over "tomorrow". 60% of the time she DOES. But it still hurts when she doesn't show up.
I've grown used to it, but I have a nine year old sister who's crushed every time my mom doesn't show up... :uhno:

FD doesn't know what the word promise means if it's used with the word parents.

Situations arise in life that complicate things. It happens.
Don't just assume if they say something it will become true.

My parents don't make promises that they don't intend on keeping, and in exchange, I don't do it to them either.
Naturally, there are things in life that pop up out nowhere and keep people from doing things, but that's just life.

My parents have, but most do. it's never anything huge. Sometimes they'll forget, like my mom forgets to pick me up something from the store, or tape something on television. My dad forgets that he promised to take me to the museum, or help me with a project.
It used to really bum me out when he did; I used to think he didn't forget but just didn't want to spend time with me. Now I know that's not true, and I just don't get my hopes up too high.
