Title: Bot topics

Over My Head - April 12, 2008 03:42 AM (GMT)
Recently there have been a couple of bot topics around Topia. We would advise you not to post spam in them and just leave it to the staff by PMing an Admin/Mod the link to the topic so we can take care of it.

Agreed, Also, we recommend you leave at least two Admins/Mods a PM.
Reporting it to us sends it to our Email which we don't check all the time.

This is happening again. Please DO NOT post in bot topics! Just dont! All you are doing is bringing more attention to the bot and mostly spamming. PM an admin/mod the link to the topic and we will take care of it.

This is the last warning or people will start getting their warning levels raised.

Also i have noticed that we have "spam poison" back up which should reduce the number of bots we get.

Great job on finding that spam poison OMH.

The system I'm setting up has a bit of a glitch, the glitch being that new members are not being allocated to the Newcomers usergroup upon registration. Please be patient as I get to the bottom of this.

This is a good idea but it also has its flaws. Like when a new member joins the first thing he would probably do is post a topic in the "New members" forum to introduce himself.

The best thing we could do would be to start email validation.

Falco and I agree on something of a "Newcomers" board, which would be the 1st and only board newcomers would see. They'd be obliged to make their one post for promotion, and then never see it again, replaced by the standard board.
