Title: A little Debate
Description: Is 360 even worth it?
ZXDarknessfalls - July 14, 2008 11:56 AM (GMT)
So here I am, starting my first actual topic, and I decided lets add a little flare to this one. Then I had to think how could I do this? Then it hit me, ill just go into the Microsoft section and start a debate on if the 360 is Really worth what you pay for.
Ill Start by just pointing out the obvious, they have the shortest life expectancy of the next gen systems. Apart from the new models that don't die right away the older ones had a 100% fail rate. Ouch.

I agree on the fact they die pretty quick. (mostly because of RROD) but I must say it's worth it because it has amazing games such as Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed (*puts up flame shield*) and the XBL has the least lag of the big 3.

The older 360's I will admit are crap. I have had 3 360's so far. The first one died cause of the ring of death, second was the same. Those two were the peices of crap. The one I have now is the Halo 3 edition and that one is working better then my other two did. But I do agree the older 360's have a 100% fail rate every time

The older ones were crap, yes, but the new ones are fine. I have had 2 360s since the release date, which isn't too bad.

you should have only had 1, I'd say that isn't fine at all <_<

But then there is the part where as bad as the system fail rate is, Microsoft is going to have to be the first person to put out a new system.
They are falling behind in sales and with the PS3 getting its online on and soon to possibly rape 360 with its HOME feature Microsoft is going to have to drop its online fee or get rid of it all together to stay in the game. Had all the systems been charging for online play Microsoft wouldn't be in such a bind. But the amount of people on 360 is actually going down and moving to the free online systems.
Wii and PS3 are getting better with online material, obviously no good for 360.
Secondly (or third I don't know) PS3 has a larger line up of games this year then 360 and the Wii is still throwing out games left and right at a pace that isnt funny (cause allot of them suck) but people are still buying them.
I think Microsoft's choice to get its system out first helped at first but now they are also going to need to make the first new system or fall even farther behind the game.
(I think it serves them right for trying to get money from EVERYTHING I mean come on, have to pay for hd cables, wireless online hookup costs more, online fee's and so on lol)

Excuse me, what? How about you go ahead and try to name 10 good games exclusive to the PS3. Come on. Give it a go. Can't, can you?
In any case, I'd have to SOMEWHAT agree, but some things don't make any sense to me.
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I'm pretty sure Micro fixed the RROD problem with the X360 leet. I've never owned a 360 in my life, so I don't have any experience with this, but this is what I hear from my friends who do own one.
Also, Wii's Wifi is complete, for lack of a better word, bullshit compared to PSN and XBL and will never reach the level that those two have. On top of that, PSN has a bitchload of problems as well (again, don't own one, but from what I hear of my PS3-owning buddies). XBL is, for the most part, lag-free. Not only that, but you can communicate with others using a headset during online play.
XBL, however is completely optional. If you want to pay for it, go ahead. HD cables are nice, but, once again, completely optional. The HD DVD player? Again, completely optional (and completely pointless now that Blu-Ray won the war over HDDVD).
This discussion is merely but a matter of personal preference. If you're a massive X360 hater, you'll pop out arguments against it left and right; if you love it to death, you'll pop out arguments supporting it left and right.
@Pretz: Do you realize that there were plenty of Wii owners that had to send in their Wii to Ninty because SSBB+Mario Galaxy wouldn't play? X360 owners send in their X360 to Micro to get them fixed. That means both X360 owners and Wii owners have had at least 2 X360/Wii (technically). (I'm not even gonna go into the PS3. Lol overheating problems with thick bulletproof casing.) There's nothing wrong with having had two.

Microsoft does have somewhat of free online. It's called silver membership. If you want gold there are different options. You can get a month for about $20, half a year for about $40, and a year+one month for about $60. This is totally optional as well. The thing that is mostly hurting Microsoft is the Microsoft Points. I mean you have to use them for everything. In order to get caught up with everyone and everything(halo 3 for example) you have to get the points, have LIVE, and go get a map update to have all six new maps.
I think that if Microsoft put a lot of stuff in the marketplace for free then the would be going up in sales.

If I was at work I could toss out allot more then ten titles that the PS3 is going to have. You see I am a GameStop employee and have access to the list of games that each system is making and when they are supposed to be out. And from the start of the year the PS3 has had the most games set up to be made. You don't need to work where I do to know this either cause it was made a big deal of a while back.
As for Nintendo's WiFi, no it is not completely done. Nintendo was intending to add more and fix as much of the lag problems as they can, though im not sure how that is going to go seeing as its wireless. I myself am just picking up the cable so I played wired to get rid of the lag.
And the 360 didn't fix the red rings of death. It still happens to most the systems they put out it just takes a little longer.
But now seeing as I have talked bad about 360 I am feeling a little like I am only talking bad about it, and I do not want that. So now I say bad things about WII and PS3!
I'll make it quick.
PS3 had the worst set of launch games and trouble getting games out fast enough cause of how much it costs developers to make the games. A down side cause game makers have been just making games for other systems that were supposed to be on PS3, prime example was the supposed to be PS3 exclusive Monster Hunter 3. Which is now a WII exclusive.
As for WII, its games (for a larger part) are crap. It gets games out the fastest which in no way shape or game play is a good thing. It also has some of the most pointless accessories out there. O it also has some of the worst controls for games it puts out also. But this is long enough I will stop for now.
