Ugh, we seriously need to do something about these bots...
I say verification system. Maybe not an email verify, but one of those "input this code blah blah" or "1+1=?"
Something along these lines.

Since we appear to be flying solo for this mission, I will be looking into more extreme anti-bot measures this weekend.
We'll start with this. I've edited the ACP, so moderators should be able to ban members via warn panel. If my configuration was faulty, please state that, and I'll look into it.
I will be placing a new form of bot filter into the forum this weekend, something similar to the old one we had, but with the issues from v1 corrected. I will also work on some bot-outsmarting devices. I apologize for my inactivity, life has been hectic as of late.

JavaScript include script, handy thing... Maybe use it to include a php file that will detect proxy servers. (which most bots use...)
