Title: QOTW#3: Discrimination in Politics
Tutankoopa - September 10, 2008 01:59 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I'm Canadian, so I read about Canadian politics. Something piqued my interest the other day.
Elizabeth May, leader of the federal Green Party, will be barred from the party debates that will be taken place between the 4 other party leaders. While all the other parties are larger, they all have male leaders (Stephen Harper, Stéphane Dion, Jack Layton, and Gilles Duceppe), but they're all federal parties. It confuses me as to why May is barred from the debates.
What discrimination do you see in politics, and how does that make you feel?

Obama called McCain's running mate a pig. And now McCain is demanding an appology. (lol way to go dumass!) XD
Anyway, does that count for anything?

"America's not ready for a black leader."
I cannot see any rational thought behind that statement aside from something that starts with "r-" and ends in "-acism". To even take into consideration the color of one's skin, as opposed to their abilities, in an election that determines the leader of the free world, and the crises we face now. Only in America, folks.

For some reason every British newspaper is drooling over Sarah Palin, and every female journalist is calling her a slut. I wish for once an election would be based on policies, not sex race or age. That's not going to ever happen

How did he imply calling her a "pig"? I'm aware of what happened, just some more senseless political drama Republicans like stirring.

Don't you just absolutely LOVE America now?
Lol. What's better, some old dude and a woman who can't keep her daughter from having condom-less sex or a capable *black* young man who can actually make the attempt to stop the war and probably keep us relatively safe from the Global Warming problem?
TBQH, I'd go for Obama. (And, honestly, he's the only black man I've seen that doesn't talk like no gangsta wit all dis shits, yo.) Because, well, he's just got something about him that says, "Vote for me, I'll save you all!~"
But of course, you gotta love stuff that starts with "r-" and ends with "-acism". God bless America. ;D

Indeed, because they did such a horrible thing. Calling Sarah Palin a pig? Oh the horror. What a sexist bastard that Obama guy is.
With the sarcasm aside, Obama was making an extremely valid point. On how McCain was basing his campaign off of change, when he actually supports quite a few of Bush's policies. His exact words that started this silly little argument were...
"You can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig. You can wrap up an old fish in a piece of paper and call it change. It's still going to stink after eight years. We've had enough."
Even if he used the word 'lipstick' which seemed to be a reference to Palin's prior speech, and an outrageously cheesy line, I can't possibly see how that's even remotely calling her a 'pig'. More like a pointless act by the Republicans of taking words out of context, and this time, having it back fire right at them.

Bardock either heard it from his parents, friends, or the news and heard the word 'pig' and screamed "SEXIST!" Try not to pick words and make it into a new meaning, context counts as well.
Racism is something that will be in our world forever, no matter how much you try to not have it happen, although it has gone down atleast. But people show their true colors when a black man is in the running to run the WHITE OLD MAN'S COUNTRY.

The people who say the line I mentioned earlier are the self-righteous sheep who are in denial to whether or not they're racist. Claiming to vote for what they feel to be the most able candidate with no biased rational behind, and then bringing up such a pathetic reason based on the color of another man's skin.
Taking ignorance to an entirely new level.
