Megaman 9 came out today so I thought I'd check it out since I love Megaman. Well the game is 1000 Wii points, quite alot IMO. Once the game starts you'll get the story which is presented with stiff 8-Bit pics. All hell is breaking loose as robots are attacking every damn thing around and Dr. Wily says that it's all Dr. Light's doing so naturally Megaman goes to kick ass. Yeah, you weren't expecting a novel for the story. The game is not presented in 16:9 and sticks to 4:3 which I think is just a pleasure (-.-), the game is 8-bit all the way, I imagine it cost like 20 dollars to make this game. 8-bit all the way is the thing here as the button placements suck. You can't use the analog sticks on any of your controllers, really, they won't do anything. Basically Capcom is saying to use the Classic Controller or fuck you. The buttons on the CC make sense as Y-A is to jump and X-B is to shoot. Using Y-B as your main buttons is so sucky since you assume B is suppose to your jump button and Y to shoot thanks to how the buttons are placed. X-A is your best option but it feels odd nonetheless at first. The game controls very well regardless, very responsive and once you get used to it you'll be lovin' it.
The gameplay is Megaman....you run, jump and shoot stuff....that's it. The game isn't hard either, I consider myself a decent Megaman player and I've already completed 3 Bosses without dying once (Hint: Fight Galaxy Man first). Like always you have 8 Robot Bosses and their respective boards to get through, everything about this game is old school. I feel like"Being a true 8-Bit game" is just an excuse to be cheap and make a game for little to anything and make a shitload off it. I dig the game's soundtrack though, especially Splash Woman's level, Kick ass. Apparently you can play as Protoman in the future as DLC and download harder difficulties, DLC lately is just taking parts off the finished game and making you pay extra for it. I wouldn't bother with it when it's released. Anyway the game is pretty fun, looks totally fugly but controls well and has a cool 8-bit soundtrack. If you're a Megaman fan then you probably already have it but for everyone else it's your call. Well that's all I have to say for now, I'll probably comment more when I finish the game later.
